The questions people ask before they buy Love Notch, and a few they ask afterwards. Answered in terms of what the app does and does not do, not in reassurance.
Does my partner need a Mac or the app?
No. Any phone with a browser can send. The Love Notch notch shows a code and a QR; they scan it, and the page it opens can be added to their home screen so it opens like an app. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
Is Love Notch a subscription?
No. You pay once and own it, including future updates.
What does it send over the internet?
Three things. Notes and replies go through our relay on this site over HTTPS, where each one is kept for up to 30 days, or until a hundred newer ones have arrived, and then deleted. The app also checks your license about once a week, and checks for updates. Love Notch never uploads your files or anything else about what you do.
Can someone else read our notes?
Only someone with the code can send to your Mac, and nobody can read its inbox without a secret the Mac keeps to itself — the sender never sees it. If a code gets out, regenerate it from Settings: the old one stops working and the new one is yours alone.
Which Macs does it work on?
Any Mac on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
How do I get the app after buying?
Your license key is shown on the page you return to after checkout, with a button that opens the app and activates it, and it is emailed to the address you paid with.
What happens if I am offline?
It keeps working. The app checks your license about once a week, and if it cannot reach the server it carries on regardless, asking you to reconnect only after two weeks without a successful check. It never locks while you are using it.
Is there a money-back guarantee?

Is there an iPhone app?
Not a native one, and you will not miss it: the send page installs to the home screen from Safari's share sheet, opens full-screen with its own icon, keeps your name and your thread, and works exactly the same way. Android phones can do the same from Chrome.
What if we both have Macs?
Each Mac that receives notes needs its own licence; the phone that sends never does.
I lost my license key. How do I get it back?
Enter the email address you paid with on the recovery page and every key bought with it is emailed to you.
How do I move my license to a new Mac?
Open Love Notch on the old Mac, choose Settings, then License, then Deactivate this Mac. That frees the seat, and you can activate the same key on the new one.
Is Love Notch on the Mac App Store?
No. It is a signed, notarized download from this site, and macOS checks that signature every time it opens. Updates arrive inside the app.
Who takes the payment?
Creem, the merchant of record. They charge the card, handle sales tax, and are the name on your statement.
